No longer are blogs restricted to personal online journals published for friends and family. Blogs are big business and are used by big business to enhance the companies that run them.

Whether you love them, hate them or simply ignore them, the reality is that blogs are here to stay. This phenomenon just seems to keep snow-balling and picking up speed.

No longer are blogs restricted to personal online journals published for friends and family. Blogs are big business and are used by big business to enhance the companies that run them. There are quite a few blogs out there netting in the millions of dollars every year.

Forum sites, for example, are often affiliated with many blog sites; all inter-linked and mutually supportive of one another. Of course, the goals of many of those sites and blogs is not to make money except through residual advertising to offset the time and expense of running them.

The potential is there and limitless, however, to make a killing through this medium of communication. Where else can you publicly market, sell, ship and deliver your wares to a world-wide market for virtually no overhead? For about $300/year you can run a large variety of web sites, blogs and e-commerce sites that reach a global market. If you can reach and sell to 1/10,000th of that market, you will be living pretty high up on the hog; all done from the privacy of your home or off your mobile laptop.

There are probably as many marketing strategies to build a successful blog as there are blogs. The Internet is rife with sites that do nothing but teach you how to be a better, more successful blogger. I have reviewed several hundred of these sites and I have found what I believe to be the common core secret to them all. It’s so simple and obvious that a lot of people just overlook it.

People don’t visit blogs to look at all the pretty colors and flashing lights or hear the bells ring and whistles blow. They come because they are in search of content; the meat and potatoes.

Imagine, if you will, a fine five-star restaurant you have stumbled upon. They’ve had a cancellation and usher you in to be seated right away. Pretty good so far, eh? A whole staff of servants waits on you and flutters about while you wait on your menu. It finally arrives in the hands of a smiling server and you open it and are immediately perplexed!

It only offers one thing: PB&J Sandwich – $40.00 ($50 w/chips and a drink).

My guess is you would lose whatever appetite you had and let your feet do the talking as you headed for the door!

Blogs, or any other website for that matter, need to offer up the ‘meat and potatoes’ if they want return customers. And the way you do that is by offering a variety fine, delectable treats that they can’t wait to be served – each and every trip.

To sell something to anyone, you first have to get them inside your shop. Window dressing may catch their eye and get them to peep inside, but if they view empty shelves and cobwebs, chances are they will never be back again. You failed to offer the incentive to return.

If there is one truth in the business world, it is this:

“It is often very hard to gain customers, but it’s almost impossible to get them back once you’ve lost them.”

Content. That’s the secret thread that holds all successful online sites together. It is no easy task writing good, effective web content, but it can be done with a little study and good practices.

Many writers’ forums are available across the Internet to develop these skills in authors wishing to write articles for marketing. Blogs with good, well written articles and web content gets much attention and use. It is the wave of the future in all manner of commerce, whether you are selling a product, service or even yourself (as a writer). If you are looking to learn or improve upon your skills in this area, find a good writer’s forum to tutor you along the way.

I have been on the Internet a good while now and have seen probably one of every kind of blogger that there are out there. Sad to say, a certain percentage of them are ne’er do wells intent on some sort of criminal, or at least aggravating, behavior. I pulled this piece from our article directory to put up as a reminder to everyone to “be safe out there.”

Author : Ed Opperman

Believe it or not, millions of individuals have their own blogs with millions more reading them! Blogs run the gamut; they can be insightful, funny, specific, general, political, and so on and so forth. Unfortunately, there is a problem that you may have heard about on local news stations: the existence of internet stalkers. What do you do when you have a blog, and you attracted the attention of a person who seeks to defame you, harass you, or worse?

Thousands of people are in this situation as we speak they’ve been targeted by a mentally unhealthy person who has developed an obsession. Often, a blogger discovers that someone has been stealing their words, removing them from context, and hurting that blogger s online reputation; impersonation, for example, is not unheard of.

While simply remaining silent and hoping that it will all go away isn’t going to work, there are numerous actions that could be taken that may also make the situation worse: you could become involved in a flame war with the stalker; you could begin to harass them back, even creating a new blog to do so; you could report them to their ISP All of these are terrible ideas, because you re either a) offering attention to someone who craves it, b) egging on a mentally unstable individual, or b) having their service providers shut down their blog, thus destroying evidence, respectively (Besides, they’ll simply start a new blog somewhere else!)

Here are some actions you can take, though, that will be extremely helpful: make sure that you document everything, saving it to disc and printing it out on paper so that you’ll have hard copies when possible; consult an expert in the field of locating cyber stalkers; remove all of your personal and contact information online.

Remember that should you find yourself in such a situation, your first priority is in defending and protecting yourself, your friends, and your family. If you do decide to hire a professional, make sure that that individual is properly qualified to attend to your case; you can search online and discover whether or not the person or company you are looking at is recognized as an expert in the field of locating and identifying online stalkers. With the right person, you’ll be surprised at just how much information you can discover!

An investigation of this type is state of the art. Before you hire someone make sure they are qualified. Do an internet search engine search on their name. Find out if they are considered an expert in this type of cutting edge investigation.

look for complaints or happy clients leaving testimonials

Can your blog be a part of your article marketing strategy? Most definitely it can. The two are complementary, though completely separate parts of an advertising campaign to increase website traffic.

One of the main concepts behind article marketing is the versatility it offers in a marketing plan. The idea is to recycle a single investment of time and money in as many effective ways as you can. Articles may be distributed, placed on blogs, in newsletters, made an email for autoresponders and any number of other applications. Write or buy it once and use it to its maximum limit must be the mantra of all internet marketers.

I found this article by one of the most respected internet marketers on the Net. Hope you gather some useful information from it as I did.

Author : Guido Nussbaum

Can your blog be a part of your article marketing strategy? Most definitely it can. The two are complementary, though completely separate parts of an advertising campaign to increase website traffic. They are excellent to use as a part of your affiliate marketing strategy, though they can be used for promoting you own product as well. The blog is an excellent means of presenting the virtues of an affiliate product to a dedicated audience.

What is the difference between a blog and an article? There can be a lot, and there can be not so much. Blogs are much more informal. Usually blog entries are shorter than articles. Some people put whole articles in their blog, but it usually is more effective to pick one important aspect of the article and put that in your blog. Use it much like a teaser. Give enough information to make it appealing, but leave enough to discover that the reader will want to click through to your site and read the whole article.

Blogs are a good way to get more personal with your readers. It allows them to leave comments and feedback. The readers get the feeling that they “know” you They can chat with you and you with them.

Blogs show your readers, both customers and potential customers, that you are keeping abreast of the latest in your field. Most blog posts relate to current happenings. The articles show your expertise in the field, and the blog shows that you are keeping current. Both give your reader confidence in you on different levels.

What are some tips to help you integrate your blog postings into your article marketing strategy? How can you get the most mileage out of the blogs and articles as a cohesive advertising campaign?

Put your blog on your main site. Blog sites are convenient, but putting your blog on your site takes advantage of extra traffic, as well as links that will increase search engine traffic due to higher search engine rankings.

Don t put your whole article in your blog. Write about some aspect of your article, telling why you wrote it, benefits to be gained from it, etc. Then, link to your article in your blog. Do this even if your article is on the same site as your blog.

Link to other places that publish your article. Don t link to article directories, but do link to other websites, newsletters, and other blogs that mention or publish your article. This will increase your search engine traffic due to the increase in ranking that links provide.

Discuss responses to your articles. Include both negative and positive responses. Also, include any personal responses you have had with readers. This shows that your articles are being read, having an impact, and that you are available and engage with your readers. This will improve your credibility and gain even new readers as others discuss your blog and link to it.

Keep your blog current. Putting up a blog, linking it to your article, then not posting to it for a long period of time has the opposite effect than what you want. Instead of making you appear to be on top of current developments in your field, it makes it appear that you are not involved at all. A blog that is not updated frequently is worse than no blog at all.

Blogging can be somewhat time consuming, though probably not as much as might appear. However, it is an important part of article marketing. Add blogging to your article marketing strategy and you can expect high returns, but only if you do it correctly.

Author : Larry McCullough

The final method you can use for marketing your blog is through the use of search engine optimization, or SEO, techniques. Search engine optimization involves taking steps to make your blog more attractive to the search engines so the search engines will provide your blog with a higher ranking on the organic search engines results page. Obviously, the higher your blog is ranked on the results page, the more likely it is that people will visit your site. And, since these search engine results are completely free, you don t have to worry about paying every time someone clicks on your link.

Getting your blog to rank naturally high on the search engine results is possibly the best way to market your blog. Not only does it cost nothing, but many people don t bother to look at the sponsored links that are brought up from a PPC campaign. In addition, simply having your site ranked high on the list automatically makes your blog appear to be more relevant and reputable in the eyes of those who are searching for a particular keyword phrase.

There are numerous ways you can get your blog to rank higher in the search engine results pages. One method is to incorporate certain keyword phrases into your blog posts. In order to give yourself the best chance for success, visit a site such as Google Adwords and look at the popularity of various phrases that are related to your site. Ideally, you should target those phrases that are searched often but that do not yet have a great deal of competition on the Internet.

Creating links within your blog also helps increase your search engine standing. By linking various relevant posts to one another, the search engines are better able to crawl throughout your blog and analyze what it has to offer. It is also beneficial to build up your incoming links, which are links coming to your blog from other blogs and websites..

There are several methods you can use to increase your incoming links. If you engage in social networking, you can build your incoming links by leaving a link to your website at forums, blogs and other social networking websites. You can also increase your incoming links by guest blogging on other blogs and by submitting articles to article directories. If your article is good enough, it may go viral. This will help increase your incoming links while also improving your overall reputation within your target market.

The way your blog is set up can also have an impact on your search engine ranking. If your blog is full of broken links, for example, the search engine spiders will not be able to comb through your blog properly. As a result, the spiders may think your blog has less to offer than it really does. Therefore, if you are not comfortable with the technical aspect of maintaining a blog, it may be worthwhile for you to hire an expert to help you with the initial set up. That way, your blog will be attractive and easy to navigate for search engines and for your readers.

Author : Alan Tedman

There are many types of media in both the printed form and online I like to read blogs, others like feeds and some others like newsletters. All of these forms require one big thing, content.

Blogs can bring all of these readers together and produce important content for your business in a personal, unique style.

In fact when blogs first started out in the late 90s, they were mostly used as personal journals. Somebody might be traveling around the world for a year and want to let the folks back home to know what they have been doing and at the same time, keep a record. But blogs have evolved and are now more business like than personal.

Personally, I find if there is some humour dotted around, it keeps the reader more interested. Unless you’re a big star nobody cares what supermarket you shop at or what products you recommend.

Other marketers or visitors looking at your blog are looking for valuable content and will definitely not return if you don’t offer them anything other than sales pitches.

Successful blogs will sell their products because they have already provided valuable information for the reader. Readers already know what kind of quality information they re getting and will have built up some kind of rapport with the blog. If at a later stage the blog recommends any products then they are more inclined to trust its opinion and therefore buy.

If you are going to start up a blog you will have to be prepared to make posts virtually every day. All the most profitable and most visited blogs have multiple postings every day. This results in a need for lots of content..

A good way of getting ideas is to look at other blogs in your niche and see what opinions they are voicing. It could be that you total disagree with them and want to put you point across thus starting a cross blog discussion.

Cross blog discussions bring us on to trackbacks. Trackback is a blog feature where you can comment on another blog posting in your blog instead of in that blog’s comments page. You then you link to the discussion through the trackback link.

There are many things that a blog can do for your business.

Blogs can help you:

 * Improve your search engine rankings and increase your visibility

 * Help to build a community and network with people who have similar interests

 * Expand your reach to those outside your current circle of influence

 * Help to establish your credibility as an expert in your field

 * Reach out to potential customers

Businesses have found a use for blogs and people are finding creative ways to use them. Some companies use them for knowledge management. Blog tools are easier to use than web based applications and they provide an efficient, simple way to share and organize information.

Blogs can also show the big corporate companies in a warmer more human light. They can transform a dull business site and help build their brand.

Blogging can be for all businesses, big and small and their popularity continues to grow.
